about MARSHA HELLER

I was born into a family of artists - sister, brother, aunts and uncles. I studied art history at Oberlin, graphic design at the School of Visual Arts, and studio art with Revington Arthur, Irving Marantz and Sam Feinstein. My work is shown in galleries in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Florida, in many private and  public collections. Perhaps one of them will soon be in your collection too.



Inspiration 

Of course I am inspired by the sky, the landscape, my garden, and every painting I've ever seen. My first favorite painter was Renoir, followed by Monet and Cezanne. I studied painting with Sam Feinstein, among others, and was greatly inspired by him.

Techniques

I paint in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and wax (encaustic painting), mostly using a palette knife.

I am an artist who paints impressionistically -  landscapes (some more abstract than others), flowers, and skies,  for more than 40 years. I have studied with many wonderful artists - Revington Arthur at Chautauqua, Irving Marantz at NYU, and Sam Feinstein in his private classes. My work can be seen at Ceres Gallery in NYC, Chester Gallery in Chester, Connecticut, Harvest Gallery in Dennis, Massachusetts, and Yaacov Heller Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida.  Also there are many examples of my work on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

Perhaps some of you already know that I am an oboist and have been privileged to have had a very varied career in NY for the past 60 years, performing in orchestras, chamber music, as soloist, and on Broadway.  My music and my art feed each other; both strive to bring light  to people's lives. I hope you will someday join my collectors and enjoy my art.
